Roberta Rousos
SCULPTURE ARTIST
PAINTINGS
My first painting classes were oil and it is still my preferred medium. The texture and richness of oil paint are hard to beat. During grad school I set painting aside in favor of sculpture. In the subsequent years I'd dabble occasionally. It wasn't until 2020 however, that painting became a need. I was able to express my raw emotions on a canvas that I couldn't with a more complicated sculpture. Painting was immediate; a means of releasing unidentified emotions. I can turn on some music and turn off my logical brain and just paint.
